M2M and Opto 22 team on telemetry (January 2007)
Hardware and service platform for monitoring and management of fixed and mobile assets announced.Industrial automation supplier Opto 22 has teamed with internet SCADA specialist M2M Data Corp to extend the reach of Opto 22s SNAP programmable automation controllers (PAC) with M2Ms iSCADA connectivity. The deal heralds what is claimed as a complete hardware and service platform for comprehensive monitoring and management of fixed and mobile assets.
Remote monitoring
The companies will deliver remote monitoring and data acquisition solutions to customers leveraging connections from Opto 22 SNAP PACs to M2M Datas iSCADA web-based monitoring and data management portal. The solution claims reduced cost of deploying asset management-type applications by single sourcing hardware, software, communications and off-site data hosting.
Sheffres
Opto 22 VP Bob Sheffres said, We provide interfaces to virtually any mechanical, electrical or electronic asset. This alliance with M2M will extend our SNAP PAC systems into the iSCADA market, offering customers an integrated hardware, communications and software solution. Opto 22 was founded in 1974 and today claims over 85 million Opto 22-connected devices worldwide. M2M Data.s iSCADA is used by energy companies, utilities, and government contractors developing and operating the United States critical infrastructure program.
