New instrumentation module for subsea brownfields (February 2008)
Aker Kvaerner’s PodEx adds functionality to existing subsea controls, maximizes recovery.Aker Kvaerner has launched a new data acquisition system, ‘PodEx,’ said to be ‘a cost-effective solution to the challenge of maximizing recovery from mature subsea fields.’ PodEx adds new functionality and instrumentation to existing subsea control systems and requires minimal installation time. PodEx uses spare subsea circuitry and power to supply well and reservoir data to topside systems for analysis.
Taule
Aker VP Erik Taule said, ‘The new solution contrasts with previous, complex alternatives which have required either changing or redesigning the original control system. Many brownfield sites would benefit from better knowledge about their wells’ performance.’ The Aker system also integrates with control systems from other manufacturers.
