Schlumberger acquires petrophysics boutique Techsia. Techlog is to embed Ocean and provide well log analysis to Petrel users.Schlumberger has acquired Techsia in a deal whose commercial terms were not disclosed. Techsia’s flagship Techlog well log analysis package is to be ported to Schlumberger’s Ocean development environment and coupled with the Petrel earth modeling solution. Tony Bowman, president of Schlumberger Information Solutions said that ‘Adding log and core petrophysical interpretation to Petrel will be particularly valuable in real-time well construction workflows.’
Techsia’s Montpellier, France HQ will become the Schlumberger Petrophysics Software Center of Excellence. Techsia founder and CEO Stephanie Gottlib-Zeh, said, ‘Accessing Schlumberger’s global organization will bring us greater market penetration and accelerate the realization of integrated workflows from the wellbore to the reservoir.’ Future product development will benefit from collaboration with Schlumberger R&D centers of expertise in geomechanics, well placement, production logging and fluid characterization. Techsia’s ‘Malcom’ solution for chromatographic analysis of fluid samples will also benefit from Schlumberger’s global reach. Techsia currently has 53 employees and will operate under its own name.
