POSC/Caesar southern hemisphere meets in Brisbane (December 2012)

EU’s €14 million ‘Optique’ IM. Sharecat pitches southern EqHub. Origin on CSG ops. ISS’ well test.

Speaking at the recent POSC/Caesar association’s (PCA) southern hemisphere meet in Brisbane Australia, PCA general manager Nils Sandsmark introduced a new project, ‘Optique’ for intelligent information management. Optique is funded by the EU FP7-ICT program with a €14 million budget. The project kicked off in November 2012 and sets out to blend data from rotating equipment, E&P data stores such as Petrobank and OpenWorks and feed into the ‘Optique ecosystem.’ More from Optique.

Sharecat MD Dag Pettersen made a pitch for an ‘EqHub’ for the southern hemisphere—a mirror of Norway’s EPIM-managed equipment e-commerce platform. EPIM promises prequalified equipment information delivered ‘once and for all’ using Sharecat technology, ISO15926 and ‘other standards as required.’

Garth McDonald described how integrated operations are transforming data to actionable information in Origin’s rapidly scaling coal seam gas (CSG) operations. Origin’s CSG business transformation has been enabled by the use of data and multidisciplinary process orchestration. The component data consolidation and reporting project is built around ‘Intuition,’ a production data ontology based on industry standards such as ISO, OPC and ProdML.

Grant Eggleton showed how ISS Group’s BabelFish tools were used to automate the capture and validation of well test records in ProdML. BabelFish Sentinel monitor detects ‘start’ and ‘stop’ events from valve position indicators or detection of steady state in wellhead pressure. Test data can be grouped according to choke settings, tubing head pressure which can be viewed individually or as trending data. Presentations available from POSC/Caesar.
